St James’ Church, Stonehaven

St James’ Episcopal Church, Stonehaven is a Grade A listed building with a strong heritage and a direct link to the history of Stonehaven. In recent years the building became in need of repair and funding was needed to carry out the full extent of the works. Our involvement was initially inspecting the property and preparing a scope of works with the client to allow funding applications. Thereafter we carried out design, project management and contracts administration work to assist the client in the successful delivery of various phases of the project.

The first phase was to make the building wind and water tight again. This included the removal of rot infected timbers and complex temporary supports of the roof trusses. Our involvement included co-ordinating each of the specialist trades which included a specialist high access steeplejacks.

The second phase included replacing the heating system, installing a smart building technology system and installing an improved WIFI and CCTV solution. IDD advised the client throughout this phase and coordinated the trades.

We look forward to phase 3, which will see an exhibition installed into the church detailing its history and displaying many of it’s artefacts. Phase 4 is the renovation of the dilapidated bell, hopefully in time for the 2018 Armistice day.
